Machine Operator

Reports to:  Production Supervisor (Cutting)

Supports: Manufacturing

Hours:  Full-time Hourly, 6:00 am–4:30 pm (Mon-Thur) 4/10 work schedule


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup and Operate the following: Automated Machines, AMP Presses, Molex Presses, Schlueninger cut and strip, Komax cut and strip.
  • Various semi-automatic hand tools used in production
  • Train production assemblers to setup and use applicators on all presses.
  • Follow production schedule as determined by production supervisor.
  • Make process suggestions to improve how we do things
  • Perform pull-tests and other tests as required to certify that product in production meets our specifications for quality.
  • Repair and perform maintenance on all production equipment.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of and actively contribute to Lean Manufacturing processes. 


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Manufacturing exposure or background in electronics - understands Bills-of-Materials, Process sheets
  • Electrical technician/troubleshooting skills
  • Basic Machinist skills
  • Teaching skills – has the patience to teach someone how to do detailed tasks
  • Knowledge of electronic components is preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication – team player
  • Excellent mechanical techniques
  • Skilled at following assembly prints 
  • Troubleshooting
  • Taking assemblies apart and properly reassembling them
  • Good fundamental electrical and pneumatic operating skills.  
  • Can read basic electrical diagrams and air flow/valving schematics and troubleshoot from these.
  • Enthusiasm/good energy level – self-starter, optimist, looks for ways to help the team, comfortable taking over parts of some other person’s job if it will help them get more done
  • Project completion drive – can see a project through to the end
  • Flexible – willing to grow with the company at a reasonable rate
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Must be able to multi-task and support other roles as required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving and examining objects at standard reach.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others to exchange information.
