Plant Accountant

Reports to: General Manager (dotted line to Owners)


Supports: All Functional Areas


Hours: Full-time salaried, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm; 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off)


The Plant Accountant is required to handle all clerical tasks for, but not limited to, accounts payable, billing, payroll, general accounting, financial statement preparation, and assigned Human Resource duties. This position will also aid the General Manger and/or Owners with special financial reports or analyses.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and submit Bi-weekly employee payroll and weekly outside contract payroll.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations. 
  • Run and post daily cost transactions to the (GL) general ledger.
  • Perform daily billing to customers.
  • Run and prepare monthly reports for journal entries and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and enter month end journal entries. 
  • Run, prepare, and distribute monthly financial package. 
  • Make bank deposits. 
  • Maintain, reconcile, and enter petty cash in accounts payable.
  • Perform accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Oversee the standard cost system and coordinate standard cost changes.
  • Review and analyze reports supported by non-accounting transactions for potential issues.
  • Support Monthly P&L Forecasting.
  • Plan and review budgets and expenses and make      recommendations as needed.
  • Offer suggestions for improving business profitability and reducing risk.
  • Review and analyze margin analysis reports and bring questions to management.
  • Monthly financial performance forecasting.
  • Put together and submit year-end account reconciliations and CPA package.
  • Annual preparation and submission of 1099s & 1096, SAM & ITAR.
  • Annual Insurance Audits preparation and submission.
  • Ensure proper controls and procedures are in place for accurate and timely financial reporting. 
  • Address all Accounting Issues, i.e., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory.
  • Ensure new employee packets are completed with required supporting information.
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Employee liaison for Benefits package.
  • Oversee Annual Health Plan Renewals.
  • Daily input and review for attendance reporting.
  • Handle Workers Comp Claims.
  • Get and distribute mail every day.
  • Communicate to Management any HR Issues that may      arise.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience; preferably in a Manufacturing organization.
  • Degree in a related field preferred; can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience.
  • Experience with Bills of Materials and ERP/MRP.

  • Must be able to perform all tasks after training with minimal supervision and support.
  • Must be a team player.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others to exchange information.
  • Must be willing to work extra hours if needed to meet deadlines.
